Ashtrays
Make
sure smokers use large, deep ashtrays.
Wet cigarettes before empting into trashcan.
Don’t smoke while lying down, or in bed
- Space
Heaters
Keep
heaters three feet away from anything that can burn.
Unplug heaters when they are not in use, leave you
home or go to bed.
- Cooking
When
cooking wear tight fitting clothing.
Use oven mitts when handling hot pans.
Don’t leave cooking unattended.
If a pan catches fire, put a lid over it and
turn of the burner.

Smoke
Alarms
Place
smoke alarms outside all sleeping areas and on every
level of the home.
Test you smoke alarm once a month by pushing
the test button.
Make
sure the smoke alarms are place were everyone can
hear them.
What
to Do in Case of a House Fire

Stop,
Drop, & Roll
If
your clothing catches fire, stop (don’t run) drop
gently to the ground, cover your face with your
hands and roll over & over to smother the
flames. to smother the flames. If you are unable to
do the Stop, Drop & Roll method, smother the
flames with a towel or blanket.

Treatment
of Burns
Treat
burns by immersing them in cool water for 10 to 15
minutes. If
burns are severe get medical help immediately.

Planning
and practicing you escape route from the fire.
Plan
two ways out for every room in your home.
Make sure windows are working properly and
are easy to open.
Once out of the home, know you local
emergency number, and call the fire department from
your neighbors.
