Fall Safety tips
- Before the cold weather comes have your furnace
serviced by a qualified heating technician, to
ensure that it is operating safely.
- Have you chimney inspected to make sure it is free
from obstructions; make sure all vents are free of
debris.

- Keep flammables away from furnace, clothing,
cardboard boxes, paint thinners, fuels, and
solvents.
- Be careful with space heaters, follow the
manufacturers instructions for safe venting and use.
Put heater at least three feet away from anything
that is flammable, such as linens, clothing and
furniture. Never leave them on when you are outside
the room or asleep. Don’t use them to dry
clothing, shoes or mittens.

With the daylight growing shorter in the fall make
sure all outdoor lighting
is in perfect working order.
Good lighting aids against
neighborhood crimes and
falls prevention.
- Check home for water leaks
- Make sure there are working light at the top &
bottom of all stairs.
- Make sure firewood is stacked and covered on top
in a way that keeps out rain. But allow air to
circulate to let firewood continue to dry.
