ONGOING VOLUNTEER NEEDS

• Welcome the National Center for State Courts in Williamsburg as a new volunteer station. The Center needs volunteer Library Assistants.
• Newport News Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) needs volunteers to assist children receiving services through the Juvenile Domestic Relations Court. Children need “friends” to help to understand the legal process. Training provided.
• Welcome Jamestown 4-H Educational Center as a new station. The Center needs volunteers for Receptionist (front desk, clerical), Instructor (for environmental and other nature-related topic classes), Cafeteria Worker and Maintenance Worker.
• Mary Immaculate Hospital needs volunteer drivers for a new medical transportation service. Vehicles and insurance provided. Contact RSVP-VP at 886-6464 or Laura Eagle at Mary Immaculate 595-9037 or email laura_eagle@bshsi.com
• Welcome the new Williamsburg area RIDES non-emergency medical transportation service. Volunteer drivers needed. Vehicles and insurance provided.
• The Peninsula Agency of Aging needs volunteer drivers for Meals on Wheels and MedTran. Meals on Wheels volunteers deliver hot lunches to homebound persons on localized routes in all lower Peninsula locations. These are often the only hot meals the recipients get. MedTran volunteers drive seniors without transportation to non-emergency medical appointments. This is vital in allowing seniors to live independently in their own homes. Do you know persons who have some time and are not RSVP-VP volunteers?   Tell them about these opportunities.  Encourage them to sign up with RSVP-VP if they are at least 55 years of age or to contact these places directly if they are younger.
